US Cargo Control to Honor Trucker Drivers with Open House & Cookout
Urbana, Iowa (PRWEB) September 12, 2017 -- US Cargo Control is planning an open house and cookout as part of National Truck Driver Appreciation Week.
Truck drivers, industry professionals and the public are invited to USCC’s headquarters (also the Clickstop campus), 202 Blue Creek Drive in Urbana, Iowa, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 15. Semi-trailer truck parking will be available.
“Truck drivers roll coast to coast, oftentimes 24/7, to get us the goods we need and want, despite sacrificing time with families and potentially dangerous driving conditions,” said Todd Kuennen, president of US Cargo Control. “This is an opportunity for us to show gratitude for the dedication of these hardworking men and women, and raise awareness and appreciation of the critical role they play in our daily lives.”
US Cargo Control offers trucking and transportation products, lifting slings, rigging equipment and moving supplies, as well as specializes in sewing and/or assembling ratchet straps, cargo nets, chain slings and flatbed trailer tarps.
The event will include food and drinks, giveaways and prizes. Guided tours of USCC’s manufacturing operations are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.
This year’s National Truck Driver Appreciation Week runs Sept. 10-16 and recognizes the significant contributions of America’s 3.5 million professional drivers. The annual celebration was started in 1988 by American Trucking Associations (ATA), the largest national trade association for the trucking industry.
According to ATA, the trucking industry brings $726 billion in revenue to the country’s economy. Professional drivers logged close to 724 billion miles last year, delivering nearly 10.5 billion tons of freight and accounting for roughly 70 percent of all freight moved in the United States. More than 80 percent of U.S. communities depend solely on trucking to deliver goods and commodities, in areas such as food, medicine, fuel, retail, agriculture, manufacturing and disaster relief.
