USA Taekwondo Announces the Hiring of Keith Ferguson as Executive Director
Colorado Springs, Colo. (PRWEB) January 15, 2016 -- USA Taekwondo (USAT) has named Keith Ferguson as Executive Director, effective February 1, 2016. He brings an extensive Olympic Sports background to USA Taekwondo after more than 25 years of sports marketing, sports management, television and event experience at the executive level.
Most recently he was Senior Vice President of Events for the Rural Media Group where he was responsible for the development and marketing of the network’s western sports division. In that role he was responsible for producing the network’s signature event, “THE AMERICAN” - the world’s richest one-day rodeo held in Dallas’ AT&T Stadium.
Mr. Donald R. Reynolds, a USAT Board member and Chair of the Executive Search Committee, said, “We are excited to have Keith take on this important role to lead USAT as we work to continue to move USAT forward to the benefit of all our athletes and other constituencies. We saw many impressive candidates through our broad and deep search process, and Keith rose to the top.”
Previously, Mr. Ferguson served as the Chief Executive Officer of USA Climbing where he was elected to the executive board of the International Federation of Sport Climbing. Ferguson also had many roles during his 15-year career at the United States Olympic Committee including international events, Olympic and Pan American Bids, U.S. Olympic Festivals and Sport Development.
In his role with USA Taekwondo (USAT), Ferguson will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the organization along with developing and implementing the strategic plans to achieve the organization’s goals and objectives.

The United States Olympic Committee (USOC) recognizes USA Taekwondo (USAT) as the National Governing Body (NGB) for the sport of Taekwondo in the United States. A primary function of the NGB is to conduct national and international events in its sport. Taekwondo made its debut as a demonstration sport at the Seoul 1988 Games, but was not officially added to the Olympic programme until the Sydney 2000 Games. Since then, USA Taekwondo has earned eight Olympic medals-- two gold, two silver and four bronze.
