WHY:
In 2013 alone, USO Fort Hood saw more than 70,000 visitors, including troops and military families. The years of steady traffic at USO Fort Hood left the center in need of renovations. As part of the three and a half month long restoration, many improvements were made, including new paint and floors throughout the center. To create a more home-like environment, the main reception desk and museum pieces have been relocated throughout the center, a children’s play area has been added and all seating and electronics in the theater and gaming areas have been updated. During the renovation, USO Fort Hood continued to serve the military community with an auxiliary location where troops enjoyed lunch, gaming amenities, computers and more.
Upon walking into the new USO Fort Hood, visitors will find a brighter, more inviting and spacious space for troops and their families to enjoy. All the improvements made to USO Fort Hood were completed in order to create a USO location that can better support Fort Hood troops and their families, while showing them gratitude for their service and sacrifices. USO Fort Hood first opened at Fort Hood in 2001 and moved to its current location in 2006.
NOTE: Interested media to RSVP by December 16 to Sarah Camille Hipp at schipp(at)uso(dot)org.
