Vancouver Clinic to Host Seminar for Professionals on EEG (Electroencephalographic) Biofeedback Sponsored by the Biofeedback Federation of Europe
London, England (PRWEB) April 30, 2014 -- In a seminar taking place on May 9, 2014, BFE Program Director Mark Schwartz will introduce health professionals to the field of EEG Biofeedback also known as neurofeedback. Dr. Paul G. Swingle will discuss the use of neurotherapy in his practice using ADHD as an example.
Over the past 40 years, the field of EEG biofeedback has grown very slowly, gaining a dedicated following amongst a handful of leading researchers and professionals around the world. Now, it is increasingly being used for performance training among elite and professional athletes. It has also started to be used more widely in mild to severe health disorders. In 2012, the American Academy of Pediatrics recognized biofeedback as a level one intervention for the treatment of ADHD.
According to Mr. Schwartz, “EEG Biofeedback helps professionals explore the neurophysiological characteristics of subjects with attention issues. Findings from published research studies support the conclusions that subjects with attention issues can be differentiated from individuals with other psychiatric problems on the basis of their EEG measure."
The small community of biofeedback researchers and practitioners has long held the belief that EEG Biofeedback is a powerful tool with enormous potential. In his Vancouver clinic, Dr. Swingle uses neurotherapy as a part of the treatment for a wide range of disorders as well as with clients who just want to perform better at work, on stage or at a sport. The ClinicalQ is an EEG assessment developed by Dr. Swingle that measures brain activity at five locations. The initial assessment generates a report on the EEG data that flags values that are outside of the norms based on Dr. Swingle's clinical database. The report also provides guidance on how to use Dr. Swingle's braindriving method to optimize EEG features based on the report’s findings and Dr. Swingle’s clinical interview.
