VARTA Microbattery, Inc. Hires First Response Specialist to Oversee Safety of New Battery Storage Systems in North America
Rye, NY (PRWEB) August 12, 2015 -- VARTA Microbattery Inc.—a global energy leader for more than a century—has hired a seasoned fire safety and first response consultant as it embarks on its entry into the North American market for battery storage systems.
Mark Iannucci, owner and operator of Emergency Management Consulting and Training, LLC, is a fire safety expert with an impressive 33-year career with the City of Yonkers Fire Department. Iannucci held various executive posts at the local fire department including Battalion Chief; Incident Commander; Captain of Special Operations, overseeing response efforts for numerous specialized rescues and hazardous material spills and leaks; and Chief of Personnel, managing the 455-member department. Iannucci retired from the fire department in 2014 and founded Emergency Management Consulting and Training in 2015. He also holds a degree in Emergency Management from SUNY Empire State College.
An internationally recognized battery solutions manufacturing firm with operations in countries throughout Europe, Asia, the United Kingdom and North America, Westchester-based VARTA Microbattery, Inc. will now provide reliable back-up power solutions to North America for extreme weather conditions, said William Flanagan, president and CEO of VARTA Microbattery, Inc. The introduction of these lead-acid batteries, which do not produce carbon monoxide, is also aligned with New York State’s Reforming the Energy Visions’ (REV) study of overhauling the electrical utility regulations in regards to distributed energy systems, Flanagan said.
“VARTA has thought through solutions to energy storage and designed a safe and dependable product for the United States consumer,” Iannucci said. “The technology and detail to safety makes this project worthy of my endorsement. I have witnessed too many deaths from carbon monoxide poisoning and fires caused by refueling hot heating or energy equipment when the power is out; if this storage system saves one life from carbon monoxide death, I am 150 percent behind it.”
VARTA Microbattery, Inc. has pioneered research and development in the battery industry for more than 128 years, and also designs and manufactures retail batteries and energy solutions for a wide range of markets including medical, automotive, computers, and more. VARTA Microbattery, Inc. continues to engage in a rigorous policy of safety and sustainability, maintaining a high standard of social and environmental responsibility.
