Vehicle Protection Association Executive Director Runs 2013 ING New York City Marathon with Team For Kids to Support New York Road Runners
ST. LOUIS (PRWEB) October 31, 2013 -- Vehicle Protection Association (VPA) Executive Director Chris Carenza is participating in the 2013 ING New York City Marathon on Sunday, Nov. 3 with Team for Kids, a group of adult runners from around the world that raises money for New York Road Runners (NYRR) youth and community services programs while training for major endurance events. Carenza, along with the VPA, raised $6,000 for NYRR and Team for Kids.
As executive director of the VPA, a not-for-profit trade association formed to promote regulatory transparency, education and accountability for marketing and servicing automotive service contracts, Carenza believes in making a difference in the industry as well as giving back to the community. With the support of VPA members, Carenza, a former member of the U.S. Olympic soccer team who played professionally in the North American Soccer League, was able to combine his passion for running with his professional organization and raise money for a great cause.
“As an Association dedicated to ethical business practices, self-regulation and high standards of conduct, it was a good fit that we support NYRR and Team for Kids, both of which work to improve the lives of children around the world,” said Carenza. “Helping others and making a difference in the community is important to the Vehicle Protection Association.”
In addition to Team for Kids and NYRR, the VPA supports many charitable organizations and encourages members to get involved in their local communities through volunteer work or other contributions. Several VPA member companies and supporters donated to NYRR and Team for Kids, including BPA Quality, EFG, Forte Data Systems, MacMurray, Petersen, and Shuster, LLP, Mepco Finance Corporation, Moxy Solutions, Omnisure Group, PayLink Payment Plans, Skyline Graffix and Walker Sands Communications.
NYRR’s Youth and Community Services programs provide free or low-cost fitness and wellness programs to underserved children who would otherwise have little access to physical activity. Each year, these programs help more than 200,000 children in more than 800 schools and community centers across the world.
