Velodome Shelters’ Newport Bike Shelter Selected for River Cities Bike Share Program
Clifton, NJ (PRWEB) June 01, 2017 -- On Bike Share, a Pawtucket, RI provider of bike share systems assisted the cities of Aurora and Lawrenceburg, IN in implementing the River Cities Bike Share Program. A scenic, six-mile bike path hugs the Ohio River and connects the two cities. The program was developed to encourage residents and tourists to use the path and to explore the downtown areas of both cities.
For the share program, bikes are distributed among three locations: downtown Aurora, Dearborn Trail and downtown Lawrenceburg. To designate discrete bike parking areas for the locations, On Bike Share selected Velodome Shelters, a New Jersey manufacturer of high quality bicycle parking products, to supply bicycle shelters. Velodome’s Newport bike shelter fit the bill. The Newport’s handsome design blends seamlessly into the varied locales while keeping the aesthetic consistent. Constructed of anodized aluminum, the Newport bike shelter holds up in extreme weather conditions and doesn’t rust. Its polycarbonate roof allows light to pass through and protects the bikes from the elements.
Newport bike shelters stand well above eye level so riders can quickly identify the bike parking areas. On Bike Share’s free mobile app allows a user to locate an available bike, unlock it via Bluetooth and once parked, log it as returned. The system tracks all bike and rider activity which can be viewed in real time with the Admin software. Patrick Perugini, president of On Bike Share, notes that Aurora and Lawrenceburg have seen use of the system steadily climbing– even to 70% some weekends.
On May 6, in Aurora, residents gathered in front of a recently installed Newport bike shelter as the cities celebrated the launch of River Cities Bike Share Program with a ribbon cutting ceremony.
