Ventum Signs American Professional Triathlete Kevin Collington
Miami Beach, FL (PRWEB) August 03, 2015 -- Fresh off a win at the Challenge Williamsburg 70.3 and podium finishes at the Monterey, Mexico 70.3, Vineman Triathlon and Escape from Alcatraz Triathlon, Kevin Collington is the latest professional triathlete to sign with Ventum.
The 30-year-old Collington was born in Florida, started swimming when he was four years old and joined the triathlon club his freshman year at the University of Florida. Collington is the 2007 USAT Collegiate National Champion with top-10 finishes in the 2007 Pan American Cup events in Kelowna, Longmont, Geneva and Rincon the same year. He also won the 2013 US Pro Championship.
Other career highlights for Collington include wins at the 2009 Playas ITU Pan American Cup race, runner-up finishes at the 2008 Nevis ITU Pan American Cup and 2010 Chicago Triathlon and three top-10 finishes in the 70.3 World Championships. Collington was a member of the USA Triathlon Project 2012 program.
“I’m obsessed with having the best possible triathlon bicycle setup, and Ventum fits into this perfectly,” said Collington. “The Ventum One blows my previous setup out of the water in terms of aerodynamics and I’m excited to have this new weapon in my arsenal. It’s exciting to be riding the fastest triathlon bike ever designed!”
Collington joins fellow triathletes Alicia Kaye, Leanda Cave, Jarrod Shoemaker and Kyle Buckingham on the Ventum roster. All four triathletes have assisted in the development of the Ventum One bicycle.
“Kevin is a championship winning triathlete and we are pleased to have him on the Ventum team,” said Diaa Nour, co-founder of Ventum. “Kevin has had a stellar season so far, and as a Ventum athlete, he will hopefully continue his streak of podium finishes and win more races this year. We’ve made huge strides in the development of the Ventum One these last few months based on the feedback from Kevin, Alicia, Leanda and Kyle. We are very excited that more athletes will have the opportunity to compete on this ground-breaking triathlon bicycle.”
Since its formation in 2014, by a team of athlete-engineers and entrepreneurs, Ventum has been on a mission to build a triathlon bicycle that is faster and more aerodynamic than anything else on the market. Ventum uses technology from fighter jets and Formula 1 to create the world’s fastest triathlon bicycles, ideal for triathletes competing in non-draft-legal races, such as IRONMAN and Challenge events.
Several rounds of prototype Ventum One bicycles have been produced for testing. The competition-ready bicycle, including onboard hydration, will be on sale later this year.
