Veterinary Management Groups™ Exceeds 500 Member Milestone
ATLANTA (PRWEB) June 29, 2015 -- Veterinary Study Groups™ (VSG), the parent company for Veterinary Management Groups (VMG) operating throughout the United States and Canada, announces it has surpassed 500 members. These members own and operate more than 750 small animal and equine veterinary practices, with 3,100 full-time equivalent veterinarians on staff and $1.7 billion in aggregate revenue.
Each VMG consists of 16 to 22 members who meet bi-annually to share information, data, management experiences, ideas, resources, problems, solutions, and successes. Mutual support and motivation help each member to attain higher levels of success as practice managers and leaders. These independent practice owners gain access to intellectual capital, purchasing programs and professional development resources typically available only to the largest corporate practice groups.
This is exemplified by the experience of member Dr. Duffy Jones of Peachtree Hills Animal Hospital in Atlanta. Dr. Jones, president and board member of the Georgia Veterinary Medical Association, explains, “The diverse membership in my VSG group shares a variety of insights and best practices to help my practice succeed. The rebates and collective buying perks are great benefits, but even more valuable is the sharing of information and ideas with like-minded veterinarians.”
Dr. Laura Monahan, owner and medical director of Atlantic Veterinary Hospital in Seattle, VSG’s 500th member, explains that a friend and fellow hospital owner recommended joining a VMG group as a way for Monahan to augment her development as a business owner. Monahan relates, “As a practice owner, you often feel isolated. My VMG group gives me access to peers with great camaraderie and a desire to help one another.” One of a long line of entrepreneurs and a mother of two, Monahan feels exposure to best practices of other VMG members, combined with access to purchasing programs and professional development programs, will “make her practice stronger.”
