Veterinary Management Groups (VMG) Surpass 1,000 Practices
Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) September 07, 2017 -- Veterinary Study Groups (VSG), the umbrella organization for the Veterinary Management Groups (VMG) operating throughout the United States and Canada, announces it has surpassed 1,000 member practices. These hospitals are owned by nearly 750 veterinarians serving predominantly the small animal and equine segments of the profession. The practices include 4,100 full-time equivalent veterinarians, approximately 17,000 employees and more than $2.3 billion in aggregate revenue.
Each of the 41 VMGs consists of 16 to 22 members who meet bi-annually to share information, data, management experiences, ideas, resources, problems, solutions, and successes. Mutual support and motivation help each member to attain higher levels of success as practice managers and leaders. These independent practice owners gain access to intellectual capital, purchasing programs, and professional development resources typically available only to the largest corporate practice groups.
“Recent increases in the corporate acquisition of independent practices have elevated awareness among independent practice owners that collaboration is more important now than ever before,” cites Steve Curvey, Chief Operating Officer of VSG, Inc. “Competition for talent and clients and the ability of larger entities to leverage marketing and purchasing resources across sizeable geographic regions presents independent owners with tough competitive challenges. Joining a VMG provides an opportunity to leverage the composite knowledge within a group and to participate in the benefits of the purchasing strength of more than 1,000 practices, helping hospital owners remain independent for as long as they choose.”
VSG President Link Welborn, DVM, DABVP states, “As a participant in a group for 18 years, I know how much of an incredibly positive impact VMG membership has had on my practice as well as me personally and professionally. It is very exciting to see so many more VMG members and their 1000 practices reap the benefits of VMG membership.”
