Victoria Cashman Receives Robert B. Yegge Award
New York, NY (PRWEB) August 17, 2015 -- Victoria Cashman, senior courts advisor for LexisNexis, was posthumously honored with the Robert B. Yegge Award from the Judicial Division Lawyers Conference of the American Bar Association (ABA). Mrs. Cashman, who died April 13, 2015, received the prestigious award at a special reception on July 31, 2015, during the ABA Annual Meeting in Chicago. The award, which recognizes Mrs. Cashman’s legacy and commitment to furthering access to justice and improving technology in the courts, was accepted by her husband, Dr. Bradley Martin.
The Robert B. Yegge Award for Outstanding Contribution in the Field of Judicial Administration is presented each year to a current or former ABA member for exceptional and noteworthy work through legal, scholarly or civic avenues. It’s awarded in honor of Robert B. Yegge, former Dean Emeritus of the University of Denver Sturm College of Law and former Chair of the Lawyers Conference (1987-88).

Mrs. Cashman devoted her career, which spanned more than forty years, to improving the effectiveness of judicial administration and court technology, as well as to increasing court diversity. Among her many accomplishments, she served as the editor of the ABA State Court Organization Profile Series and as author of the U.S. Department of Justice report on drug court management-information systems. She was a board member and founding chair of the Forum on the Advancement of Court Technology (FACT), a board member of the Council for Court Excellence, and a resource board member of the National Association of Women Judges (NAWJ).
She was also deeply committed to encouraging women to pursue legal careers and helping advance women already in the legal profession. This earned her the NAWJ’s Florence K. Murray Award in 1996, which is presented annually to a non-judge who influences women to pursue legal careers.
As senior courts advisor for LexisNexis, Mrs. Cashman was instrumental in addressing technological needs and challenges faced by the judiciary, improving efficiency and access to the courts.
