Victory Medical Center Mid-Cities Offers Mobi-C® Cervical Disc Replacement to Treat Disc Disease, Damage
Hurst, Texas (PRWEB) January 21, 2015 -- Victory Medical Center Mid-Cities today announced the availability of the Mobi-C Cervical Disc, the first and only cervical disc replacement that is FDA approved for one and two level applications. Victory Mid-Cities is the first hospital in the Hurst area to offer the cervical disc replacement surgery.
The Mobi-C device, which is designed to replicate the natural motion of the cervical spine and restore the distance between the two vertebrae, helps alleviate pain and numbness associated with diseased or bulging discs.
“By partnering with the area’s top physicians, Victory is able to offer cutting-edge treatments like the Mobi-C disc replacement, and we are excited to be one of the first in the area to offer this procedure to our patients,” said Barbra Milwood, CEO of Victory Medical Center Mid-Cities. “One of our partnering physicians trained with the inventor of the Mobi-C device and can help those who may suffer from issues related to diseased or bulging discs.”
The surgery with Mobi-C helps people return to a normal life by:
• Replacing warn out discs
• Helping to maintain proper neck movement
• Un-trapping nerves
• Lessening neck and/or arm pain and any arm tingling
Mobi-C is made with proven materials that have been used in orthopedic applications for more than 60 years and is differentiated from other cervical discs because of its bone-sparing technique. The procedure eliminates operative steps with no bone chiseling required to cut a path for keels or screws. After disc preparation, Mobi-C can be inserted in one step and help provide long-term stability and neck movement.
The Mobi-C device was the subject of a FDA Investigational Device Exemption (IDE) trial. In the trial, the two-level cervical disc replacement procedure demonstrated a success rate of 69.7 percent, as compared to traditional cervical fusion results of 37.4 percent. The Mobi-C patients had lower rates of subsequent surgeries and also had reduced rates of ongoing deterioration at spinal segments adjacent to the surgery site.
