Video Comments to Replace Text Comments Online?
Roseville, CA (PRWEB) May 01, 2014 -- People can now comment and reply to online news stories, blogs and other posts with video comments recorded from their smartphone, tablet or computer. VidGage.com is currently developing version 2.0 of their patent-pending video commenting program entitled Comments Tree™. The program enables website and blog operators the technology to offer video commenting on their posts. To help fund the completion of this development, VidGage has launched an IndieGoGo crowd-funding campaign.
Through Comments Tree, web content providers can offer their audience the ability to comment and reply to posts with video comments. This more interactive commenting platform even allows comments on comments, all with video. “VidGage.com was initially going to focus or providing an interactive video focused social media platform allowing users to post videos, and their followers to reply and comment with video,” stated co-founder Kirk Uhler. “However, the demand for our video commenting to be used by other sites led us down this path. Video comments are the next big thing.”
Version 1.0 of the Comments Tree™ plugin code is currently being used by a select group of test sites and can be seen in action on CommentsTree.com. The initial version of Comments Tree 2.0 will be available as a Wordpress plugin. WordPress is currently being used on more than sixty-million websites and blogs. The plugin will be available in several price point packages, depending on the amount of video steaming desired or used by the website operator.
To help fund the project, VidGage launched their IndieGoGo campaign on April 15th, 2014. “With the IndieGoGo campaign, we hope to not only raise funds to help with the development of the plugin, but to also show there is an interest from bloggers to offer their readers a unique and more interactive way to comment and engage,” Uhler said. Contributors to the IndieGoGo campaign will receive a copy of the plugin once it’s complete, which Uhler says should be around mid-May.
Once installed, the plugin will automatically become the commenting option at the bottom of new posts. Viewers of a post will be able to use their existing social media accounts to login then record comments from either their desktop PC’s webcam, or their smartphone or tablet’s video recorder. Comments can then be shared beyond the initial post through social media, all of which directs people back to the original post to view the video. Users will even be able to tag other users as having been mentioned or referenced in their video.
