VideoDonor.com Could Save Lives: Uploading Videos and Sharing Organ Donation Stories with the World
(PRWEB) July 30, 2013 -- Would you share your organ donor stories or status by uploading a video clip on VideoDonor? People share what there making for dinner, where there going on vacation and every moment of it, there embarrassing Vegas photos, family connections, marital status and religion on social networks and when people say share a post to raise awareness about cancer, most people update your facebook status. But what about organ donation stories?
On Tuesday, 23 July Dean Jones launched VideoDonor.com a site that lets users share stories behind their decision to become donors and stories of those who are living donors who have received a “gift of life”. There's also a link to the official donor registry for those inspired to become a donor. Dean Jones the owner of the site believes that by people simply sharing organ donor stories that VideoDonor.com can play an important role.
"As of 21 June 2013, there are 118,617 people waiting for life-saving organ transplants in the U.S. Of these, 96,645 await kidney transplants, and millions more around the world, are waiting for heart, kidney or liver transplant’s that will save their lives," the VideoDonor announcement reads. " Many of those people – an average of 18 people per day - will die waiting, because there simply aren’t enough organ donors to meet the need. The demand for organs significantly surpasses the number of donors everywhere in the world. There are more potential recipients on organ donation waiting lists than organ donors. In particular, due to significant advances in dialysis techniques, patients suffering from end-stage renal disease (ESRD) can survive longer than ever before. Because these patients don't die as quickly as they used to, and as kidney failure increases with the rising age and prevalence of high blood pressure and diabetes in a society, the need especially for kidneys rises every year.”
Dean Jones stated that “being an organ donor is one of the most beautiful and selfless things that a person can do. This is because an organ donor is a person that donates part or all of their body after they have passed away. Just because a person dies, it does not mean that all of their organs stopped working. Depending on when or how a person died, there maybe some organs that are perfectly healthy. Doctors can extract these organs and give them to someone who needs the organ in order to survive. Organ donation is a beautiful way to continue to help the world long after a person has left, giving life after death.”
VideoDonor.com contains a collection of inspirational videos, funny videos, and education videos that is intended to educate people about the importance of becoming an Organ Donor. Individuals can upload videos to Video Donor about their story regarding organ donation. Some people consider the website to be a miniature video search engine where video sharing about educational and motivations videos that teach individuals just how many lives becoming an organ donor can save.
VideoDonor seeks to raise the awareness of organ donation through real life stories that focus on the importance of having ‘The Donation Conversation'. People can share videos about how they became an organ donor or they can watch a video clip of how an organ donor changed someone's life. An organ donation video can even be a tribute about someone who saved a life by becoming an organ donor, someone's life journey after receiving a gift of life or perhaps someone who has inspired others to become an organ donor.
VideoDonor campaign’s to promote public awareness about organ donation and increase significantly the number of people on Organ Donor Registers so that many more lives can be saved and transformed, support videodonor.com and help a save life.
