VIF Professional Development Receives ISTE Seal of Alignment
Chapel Hill, NC (PRWEB) May 20, 2015 -- VIF International Education, the leading provider of global education programs for K-12 schools, announced Wednesday that the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) has awarded the educator professional development resources in VIF’s learning center the Seal of Alignment based on scope and integrity of content, global focus and use of technology.
ISTE Reviewers reviewed 47 VIF professional development modules and associated materials across six programs and, after careful consideration, determined that the content aligns to nearly all of the ISTE Standards for Teachers at the Proficiency level. According to ISTE, this designation signifies that the resources provide teachers with a flexible implementation plan and opportunities to practice the skills and knowledge necessary to meet the ISTE Standards.
"Having been found to align to all but one indicator of the ISTE Standards for Teachers at the Proficiency level is a huge accomplishment," said ISTE Senior Project Manager Mindy Frisbee. ISTE Seal of Alignment reviewers noted, “The VIF Learning Center offers professional development of the highest quality and depth with a focus on global concepts and the integration of technology.”
VIF’s professional development provides K-12 educators with robust learning opportunities that build comprehension and application of global concepts and strategies to enhance student learning. Because technology is a common thread throughout the entire program, teachers learn how to apply digital tools in their own development experiences and also learn how to effectively use digital tools to support student learning in an integrated way.
“Future global citizens will rely heavily on technology as they collaborate across geographic borders. This means that a comprehensive approach to global professional development for teachers must include technology training,” said VIF Director of Curriculum and Instructional Design Anamaria Knight. “Through our professional development modules educators examine how to use technology in a way that deepens students' academic and global learning. For instance, when learning math by investigating monuments from around the world, why not also use mapping tools to get a virtual look at some of them?”
