Vioguard Launches New UV Self-Sanitizing Keyboard to Help Reduce the Spread of Hospital-Acquired Infections
Bothell, Washington (PRWEB) August 02, 2017 -- Vioguard, a leading provider of healthcare solutions that target infection control, today announced the release of the new and improved Vioguard Keyboard (http://vioguard.com/product/vioguard-keyboard/), the world’s first and only UV self-sanitizing keyboard. The unit uses the germicidal properties of ultraviolet light (UV-C) to automatically disinfect the keyboard and track pad after every use. As cleared by the FDA, the system is 99.99% effective in killing harmful pathogens, eliminating the need for manual disinfection and disposal of biohazard waste.
Brand new studies (not yet submitted to the FDA) have shown that the Vioguard Keyboard 2.0 has an improved efficacy of 99.999% in killing harmful pathogens. The keyboard system has been proven to kill bacteria commonly causing Hospital-Acquired Infections (HAIs) like Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Klebsiella pneumoniae and Escherichia coli.
The Vioguard Keyboard version 2.0 is fresh on the market and includes a variety of upgrades in comparison to the original. The new keyboard is 44 percent smaller by volume and seven pounds lighter. It uses less energy to run and its useful life has been extended.
As for the keyboard itself, it is specifically designed to provide a highest quality, tactile feel while typing. There is an added 10-key pad and a protective cover over the keyset. The keyset is available in any language.
One of the more convenient changes to the keyboard is the user-serviceable light tray. Users can now change them easily on their own.
The Vioguard Keyboard is now compatible with carts or wall mounts and with all operating systems. Easy-to-read LED indicators help users know the status of the keyboard sanitization cycles. Smart features have also been applied to prevent system damage if an obstruction blocks the door.
“We listened to the needs of the customer and implemented those needs into our design,” said Roger Pangan, Vioguard Director of Operations. “It is very important to make sure our customers’ needs are our top priority.”
Perhaps the most valuable change in the system is its improved efficacy, as shown by the studies referenced above. The new model is much more effective in its UV-C delivery, meaning it provides a more powerful dose of germicidal UV-C light.
“The Vioguard Keyboard 2.0 has a more modern look, is easier to use and is overall a more robust mechanism than the original,” stated Dave Schultz, Vioguard CEO. “But more importantly, if placed at the front lines in hospitals, it can eliminate many of the HAIs that haunt medical facilities today. We are very excited about the release of this one-of-a-kind product into the medical world.”
