Virginia Bridal Store to Sponsor Breast Cancer Awareness Masquerade Ball
Farmville, VA (PRWEB) September 26, 2013 -- Caryn's Bridals, Formals, and Tuxedos, a prominent Virginia bridal store, is sponsoring the first annual Breast Cancer Awareness Masquerade Ball in Farmville, VA this November. The event, which will also include a dinner and silent auction, will help raise money for breast cancer screening programs at the Heart of Virginia Free Clinic.
"Caryn's Bridals has a long history of supporting the local Farmville community, and helping to organize an event like the masquerade ball is an excellent way for us to continue that tradition", said Caryn Kayton, owner of Caryn's Bridals, Formals, and Tuxedos. "In fact, our assistant manager Emily Payne is the founder and director of the event, so being the primary sponsor is a way for us to support her and the community at the same time."
It's been a long-time goal of Emily's to hold an event to raise awareness about breast cancer prevention. In the past, she competed in beauty pageants, and her platform was breast cancer awareness. At one pageant, a judge asked her what she was doing to promote her platform, and she realized she didn't have a good answer. Ever since then, she's looked for an opportunity to do more than just talk about the issue. Thanks to her current position and the support of Caryn's Bridals, she now has that opportunity.
Proceeds raised by the masquerade ball will go to support the Heart of Virginia Free Clinic, a local non-profit organization dedicated to providing primary medical care for low-income patients who work but do not have access to health care programs like Medicare and Medicaid. The money will pay for breast cancer screening programs like mammograms, which cost over $100 per patient. Emily's goal for the first year of the event is to raise $20,000 through a combination of sponsorships and proceeds from the silent auction (the cost of the event will be paid for by ticket sales).
By sponsoring the event, Caryn's Bridals, Formals, and Tuxedos hopes to help solidify their position as the premier full-service bridal salon in south-central Virginia. The salon has been serving brides throughout the region for nearly 30 years, and routinely attracts customers from as far away as Virginia Beach and Charlottesville. "Because of our location in a small town like Farmville, we can't simply rely on people stumbling across our store for all our business", said Caryn. "Sponsoring events like the masquerade ball that bring people in from outside the community is one of the ways we let people know we're here."
The masquerade ball will quite literally bring potential customers to the store, since that is also one location where tickets for the ball are being sold. The tickets can also be purchased on the event web site, and include admission to the ball, silent auction, and dinner.
