Virginia Landry Interviewed by ABC7 Eyewitness News
Orange County, CA (PRWEB) November 08, 2013 -- Virginia Landry of The Law Offices of Virginia L. Landry was featured in the ABC7 Eyewitness News feature “Orange County Crime Lab error skewed DUI blood-alcohol data” (11/7, ABC7 Eyewitness News).
Just days ago, the Orange County Crime Lab announced that, due to a calibration error, one of their blood-alcohol testing machines was off by .003 percentage points and had been since May.
“This is a lack of quality control. This is a forensic nightmare,” said DUI Attorney Virginia Landry in her interview with Eileen Frere of ABC7 Eyewitness News.
A spokesman for the Orange County District Attorney’s Office said that they have sent out 900 letters to individuals who may have been affected by the error, according to ABC7.
Landry says that her firm plans on taking a closer look at about 30 past cases in light of this recent news from the Orange County Crime Lab.
Proper calibration is essential to produce accurate blood alcohol test results. Even minor errors in calibration can change someone’s blood alcohol from .07 percent, just under the legal limit, to .08 percent which could warrant a DUI.
