Visit Modern Houston Homes; Help Harvey Relief
Houston, Texas (PRWEB) September 08, 2017 -- The Modern Architecture + Design Society (MA+DS) returns to Houston for the annual Modern Home Tour on Saturday, September 23, 2017. In addition to showcasing the work of local architects, this year’s event will be used as a fundraiser for Harvey relief programs at the local level. Houstonians have two options for donating, while MA+DS members around the globe have the opportunity to also donate.
Houston is a long-running cornerstone event for MA+DS, and has a personal connection for founder James Leasure:
“I was fortunate to be a resident of Houston for over four years. In that time, I grew close to friends and neighbors that remain an integral part of my life to this day. Having spoken to them many, many times over the past two weeks, it was an easy decision to go ahead with our annual event, while at the same time directing our reach and influence to benefit what will be months, if not years, of recovery efforts. Houston left an indelible impression on me, and I’m thankful for the opportunity to give back, after Houston gave me so very, very much.”
During the self-guided event, tour-goers will get the inside scoop from homeowners on what it’s like to live in a modern home, and learn from the architects, builders and designers, where they found inspiration. Eight homes have been accepted and confirmed for the 2017 Houston Modern Home Tour. Participating architects and designers, and featured neighborhoods include:
(1) A University Place home designed by studioMET
(2) A second studioMET home located within a subdivision along the Energy Corridor
(3) A second University Place home, “the Hammer Residence,” designed by m + a architecture studio
(4) The recently renovated Stratulate Residence, newly transformed by Charles Todd Helton Architect
(5) An Oak Forest home designed by Origin Architects, built by Frankel Building Group, with staging by the Paragon Design Center
(6) A new modern home designed by Intexure Architects located in the heart of the Museum District
(7) An Afton Oaks home designed by refuGe Design Studio
(8) A home designed and built by On Point Custom Homes in Briargrove
Lawndale Art Center has been named the Houston Modern Home Tour’s local non-profit beneficiary, continuing a long-standing partnership. As always, they will help staff the event, in return for a small donation and the opportunity to use the tour as a fundraising vehicle to help further their mission of presenting contemporary art from regional artists to the masses.
Participating homes in the Modern Architecture + Design Society’s 7th Annual Houston Modern Home Tour will open their doors for viewing from 11AM – 5PM on Saturday, September 23rd, in the Houston, Texas, area. All are invited to attend. Tour-only tickets are $40. Two VIP-level tickets are available for $75 that include an after-party mixer. All proceeds from VIP tickets go towards Harvey relief. Kids under 10 are always free when accompanying their parents.
