Visit Oakland to Host 5th Annual Oakland Restaurant Week January 15-25, 2015
Oakland, CA (PRWEB) January 14, 2015 -- Diners are preparing their palates for tomorrow! More than 80 Oakland restaurants will celebrate Oakland Restaurant Week, presented by Visit Oakland and Discover® starting tomorrow, Thursday, January 15 through Sunday, January 25, 2015.
Now in its fifth year, this popular program runs over two weekends for residents and visitors to take full advantage of the dining deals. Participating restaurants will offer special prix fixe lunch and/or dinner menus at $20, $30, and $40 per person, reflecting up to 25 percent off regularly priced a la carte items.
“Oakland Restaurant Week gives diners the opportunity to experience why Oakland is one of the hottest food destinations in the country,” says Alison Best, President & CEO of Visit Oakland. “It’s a chance to try fresh, unique flavors and creative menu pairings. The city is extremely diverse, so diners will enjoy a variety of culinary options throughout our many neighborhoods.”
Oakland’s culinary growth continues to boom and the city reaps the benefits:
- Approximately 300 new restaurants and bars opened citywide since 2013
- Restaurants in Oakland’s foodie districts (Downtown, Uptown, Jack London Square, Temescal and Rockridge) generated over $200 million in sales in 2013, representing $1.9 million sales tax revenue going towards the City of Oakland
The complete restaurant list for Oakland Restaurant Week and reservations are available at http://www.oaklandrestaurantweek.org. The list can be searched by neighborhood, cuisine and lunch or dinner offerings. Through a partnership with OpenTable, reservations (strongly recommended) can be made directly from the Oakland Restaurant Week page.
Oakland Restaurant Week is a part of California Restaurant Month, designated by Visit California. The statewide event is a promotional initiative created to encourage post-holiday travel to California during the month of January, which is typically a slow dining month after the holidays.
Dates and times of participation vary by restaurant. A la carte menus will also be available. Discover® is the official Card partner for Oakland Restaurant Week 2015.
