Visit Pensacola Announces Line Up for Red, White and Blues Week
Pensacola, Florida (PRWEB) June 10, 2015 -- Patriotic spirit and fighter jets soar in Pensacola during one of the South’s biggest Independence Day celebrations that lasts long after the fireworks on the Fourth of July. Red, White and Blues Week begins on July 4 and ends on July 11, and it is one of the most anticipated events of the year. The week attracts tens of thousands of visitors who come to witness the city’s all-American celebration that includes live music, baseball, Pensacola's beautiful beaches and aerial excitement provided by the famous hometown Blue Angels.
Saturday, July 4 – Independence Day celebrations
Downtown Pensacola is the setting for a free patriotic celebration, hosted by area Sertoma clubs, in Seville Square. Festivities begin at 11 a.m. and include live music, arts and crafts, a children’s area with pony rides and inflatables and a hot dog eating contest at noon. A dazzling professional fireworks display set to music over beautiful Pensacola Bay takes place at 9 p.m.
This year visitors are also invited to watch the fireworks from the Pensacola Bayfront Stadium. Beginning at 6 p.m., Pensacola’s minor league baseball team, The Blue Wahoos, will open the waterfront stadium for a night of family fun that includes food, games and a showing of The Lego Movie that leads up to the fireworks show.
Pensacola Beach also presents a dazzling fireworks display every Fourth of July over the Santa Rosa Sound. The beach show begins at 8:30 p.m.
Tuesday, July 7 - Bands on the Beach
Bring your beach chairs, blankets and boogie shoes to Bands on the Beach at the Pensacola Beach Gulfside Pavilion. The free outdoor summer concert series presents Johnny Earthquake and the Moondogs beginning at 7 p.m.
Wednesday, July 8 - Breakfast with the Blues
The early bird gets the blues on Wednesday morning. Visitors are encouraged to eat breakfast on Pensacola Beach and watch for the Blue Angels flying over at 8 a.m. This is the first of four opportunities to see the team perform during the week. All performances are weather permitting.
Thursday, July 9 - Blue Angels Practice Show
The Blue Angels will practice for the Saturday air show at 2 p.m., performing their exhilarating, high-speed stunts and maneuvers over Pensacola Beach and the emerald green waters of the Gulf of Mexico.
Friday, July 10 - Blue Angels Dress Rehearsal
On Friday, the Blues will rehearse with the military and civilian acts that also perform in the Saturday air show. The rehearsal begins at noon, and the Blue Angels fly at 2 p.m.
The 2015 air show line-up includes the Redline Sports Team flying RV-8 speed demons; Fat Albert, a C-130 Hercules that flies support for the Blue Angels; Gary Ward flying the MX2, an unlimited aerobatic aircraft that spins and rotates at high speeds; Kevin Coleman flying a one of a kind Extra 300SHP; and Skip Stewart flying Prometheus, a biplane that roars and races.
