Visit Pensacola Welcomes Tourists After Storm
Pensacola, Florida (PRWEB) May 01, 2014 -- The Pensacola Bay Area experienced record rainfall resulting in concerns regarding travel and vacation plans.
“We realize our visitors have questions and concerns regarding their Pensacola Bay Area vacation,” states Steve Hayes, president of Visit Pensacola, Inc. ‘Travel to the area is essentially unaffected as the Pensacola International Airport is open, and all interstate highway and major roadways are clear. We by no means are trying to minimize the destructive flood waters seen in our area but feel fortunate that our beaches, main tourist destinations and attractions were minimally effected.”
“The weekend forecast calls for sunshine and warm temperatures, perfect for a trip to Pensacola Beach ,” adds Buck Lee, executive director of the Santa Rosa Island Authority and Pensacola Beach.
“The rain is gone and the resorts and condominiums are looking forward to welcoming travelers this weekend in Perdido Key,“ states Tina Morrison, director of the Perdido Key Area Chamber of Commerce & Visitor Center. “If you book now, you are eligible for a free $50 gas card.”
There are numerous events set to take place this weekend and in the coming days that will go on as scheduled. The 30th Annual Pensacola Crawfish Festival in historic downtown Pensacola starts tomorrow, May 2, 2014, at 5:00 p.m., and runs through the weekend, while the Rosamond Johnson Day ceremony will go on as planned for Saturday, May 3 on Johnson Beach in Perdido Key. Pensacola Beach will be celebrating Earth Day Island Style at Casino Beach on Saturday, May 3, and Bands on the Beach will resume on Tuesday, May 6. Pensacola Museum of Art’s newest exhibit, The Art of The Brick: Nathan Sawaya LEGO Brick Artist opens Sunday, May 4 and the popular Palafox Market will be open this weekend as well.
