Morristown, NJ (PRWEB) November 26, 2014 -- You've heard of Black Friday and Cyber Monday? Well now there’s a new day in the Holiday Season - a day to give back. On December 2nd, Visiting Nurse Association (VNA) will join in the Holiday #GivingTuesday celebration - a day of giving around the annual shopping and spending season — giving's "opening day".
In 2013, charitable care valued at more than $1.3 million was provided to VNA clients with financial hardship whose home care needs were not insurance eligible. Their dedicated team collectively made more than 140,000 home care visits throughout Morris and Hunterdon Counties and many neighboring towns.
The mission of VNA - “to help people stay in their home with dignity, health and independence” - requires the diligent work of the organization’s many professionals and volunteers to keep abreast of local needs and the fastest growing segment of their client population, homebound men and women over the age of 80. To help ensure the availability of services, VNA looks to various funders including government agencies, private foundations and individual donors who believe in the integrity and excellence of the organization.
A gift of $1,000.00 provides five days of respite for a family caring for an aging, sick or disabled loved one. A gift of $325.00 offers one client a five-day stay at Friendship House, VNA’s social adult day center for seniors with physical or cognitive challenges.
“During this time of year, it’s important to remember to give back to those who are less fortunate. VNA is excited to be a part of the third annual #GivingTuesday which allows our organization to continue providing compassionate and comprehensive care to all those in need,” said Amanda DeFelice, Development Manager at the VNA.
This nonprofit organization’s legacy of connecting the homebound with compassionate neighbors spans 116 years. Your gift will ensure the continuation of their tradition of caring. About the Visiting Nurse Association of Northern New Jersey:
Statistics show Americans would prefer to age in place at home. However, few are factoring the cost of home care into their retirement planning. Each day, the Visiting Nurse Association of Northern New Jersey encounters seniors who need a helping hand to realize their best quality of life. Many with chronic but treatable medical conditions and routine symptoms of aging aren’t eligible for Medicare home care benefits. That’s why it’s imperative for those who haven’t yet reached retirement age to plan ahead for individual needs. The Visiting Nurse Association of Northern New Jersey has devoted more than a century to delivering home health services to the residents of Morris County, NJ and neighboring communities who want to return home following hospitalization or need a helping hand to remain in the comfort of home despite illness, disability or advanced age. The Visiting Nurse Association of Northern New Jersey provides comprehensive home care services, including skilled nursing, physical, occupational and speech therapy, hospice, certified home health aides, caregiver training and support and Friendship House, an adult day care center. The Private Care Services program offers certified home health aide assistance tailored to meet specific client needs, lifestyles and resource levels. Private care is available a few hours each week or on a full-time or live-in basis.
