Vista College Killeen Offers New Personal Fitness Trainer Program
Killeen, TX (PRWEB) November 18, 2014 -- Vista College announces the addition of a Personal Fitness Trainer Program on its Killeen campus, the first of Vista’s eight on-ground campuses to offer the program. The community is invited to an Open House on Thursday, December 4, from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, December 6, from 10 a.m. – noon, at 1001 S. Fort Hood Street, Killeen, Texas, 76541. Enrollment begins immediately for classes, which start in early 2015.
“We could not be more excited about this new program and invite the community to come to the open house, meet the instructors, and experience our 481 sq. ft. learning lab – already equipped state-of-the-art equipment, with more on the way,” said James Campbell, campus director. “The open house will provide a good feel for the learning environment, curriculum, convenient class schedules, and the many options they may have upon graduation. Our campus is proud to be the first of Vista’s eight on-ground campuses to offer this program!”
The Personal Fitness Trainer Program will give students a strong working knowledge of using multiple forms of exercise to improve and maintain health-related components of physical fitness and performance. They will learn basic assessment and development of exercise recommendations as well as how to lead and demonstrate safe and effective methods of exercise. Additionally, the curriculum will provide essential motivation techniques to encourage individuals not only to begin but also continue healthy behaviors. Graduates will possess training that will prepare them to take and pass the National Academy of Sports Medicine’s Certified Personal Trainer (NASM-CPT) examination, obtain licenses and begin their careers immediately. Entry-level employment opportunities include working as trainers in health clubs, fitness centers, spas, vacation resorts, hotels, country clubs, corporate programs, and with athletic teams. Convenient schedules and the opportunity to learn at an accelerated pace are benefits of this program, which will take approximately eight months to complete with successful full-time enrollment.
The lab will include a treadmill, elliptical, and stationary bike as well as resistance bands, medicine balls, stability exercise balls, weight benches, a dumbbell rack and kettle bells.
"Without a doubt, there is an increasing need of personal fitness in our country,” continued Campbell. “Our graduates will be at the forefront of the personal fitness environment and be able to provide for people who are looking to change their lives and focus on a healthy lifestyle. This is one of many programs we will be offering in 2015 as we continue to meet the demand of professional education in our communities.”
Vista College offers a wide variety of career training programs throughout Texas, New Mexico and online. Each career program is staffed with industry experts and leading professionals, ensuring students an affordable, quality education that will help them pursue successful careers in their chosen fields.
