Vital Voices Annual San Francisco Event October 14th at SFJAZZ Center
San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) September 15, 2016 -- San Francisco - Vital Voices Global Partnership is pleased to host Vital Voices | San Francisco at the SFJazz Center on Friday, October 14th, 2016. The inspiring evening will mark the culmination of an amazing gathering, the first-ever summit with 100 of the most innovative and daring women leaders from around the world—all members of the Vital Voices Global Leadership Network.

The program will spotlight women leaders, the transformational change they are making in their communities, and their impact around the world; the evening will feature interviews with the remarkable Khanim Latif, who operates the first independent NGO to focus on preventing violence against women in Iraq, the courageous Hafsat Abiola, who fuels movements for democracy, gender equality and women’s leadership as she develops a rising generation of women leaders in Nigeria, and the inspiring Akanksha Hazari, who turned access to phones into access to critical goods and services, such clean water, healthcare, education and energy.
These incredible women will be interviewed on-stage by Tina Brown, the award-winning journalist, editor, author and founder and CEO of Tina Brown Live Media, Audrey Cooper, the first female editor-in-chief of the San Francisco Chronicle, Kathleen Matthews, a journalist in Washington, D.C. for 40 years and former Chief Global Communications & Public Affairs Officer at Marriott International, Sandra E. Peterson, the Executive Vice President and Group Worldwide Chairman for Johnson & Johnson.
Vital Voices CEO Alyse Nelson will make opening remarks, “It’s an honor to highlight the crucial mission of Vital Voices in the vibrant, bighearted city of San Francisco on the eve of our 20th anniversary.”
The evening will begin with a VIP cocktail reception, an inspiring program that will benefit the nonprofit’s vanguard strategy of investing in global women leaders to fuel transformation and accelerate social change, and conclude with a wine and dessert reception.
The Vital Voices | San Francisco audience will include executives and professionals from multiple technology companies in the area as well as Vital Voices Northwest council members from the United Nations Secretariat, Apple Inc., Stanford University, Jackson Family Wines, Andalou Naturals, Bank of America, and the IF Hummingbird Foundation.
Julie Castro Abrams, Board Chair of the Bay Area Women Leaders’ Network; Janet Lamkin, the California State President at Bank of America/Corporate Social Responsibility; and Roselyne Swig, noted community activist, are the co-chairs of the Vital Voices Council of the Bay Area.
