Vivastreet: New survey finds only one in five students will take a TV to university, relying on laptops for viewing instead
London (PRWEB UK) 26 July 2013 -- More and more students are dismissing their TVs and instead opting for laptops, states a recent study – and with many people seeking out secondhand tech gadgets online, has resulted in an increase in visitors for leading classifieds service, Vivastreet.
With insurance company Endsleigh conducting a poll on 1,700 students regarding their personal belongings, according to a report as published by The Times only 20 per cent of students own a separate TV, 17 per cent possess a stereo while just 12 per cent bring a games console to university.
A spokesperson from Vivastreet commented: “Given the advancements of technology it’s no surprise to see how many people choose portable devices against a selection of gadgets. Seeing as how an iPad can offer a number of different services i.e. allowing you to browse your favourite sites, watch the latest films as well as provide a games platform, universal resources are proving more popular than impressive widescreen TVs and state-of-the-art hi-fi systems.”
Yet when reporting how many students owned a laptop, a staggering 96 per cent admitted to being in possession of one; while 90 per cent admitted to owning a smartphone – up from 80 per cent in 2012. On average, the student takes belongings with them to university at around the value of £2,266.
“Despite students pursuing a career in academia, many devices encompass both work and play,” added the spokesperson. “Whether it’s catching up with friends or taking down lecture notes, such gadgets play an imperative part in our lives that they have become more than just modern luxuries, they’re now everyday essentials.”
As one of the UK’s most popular ads service, Vivastreet buy & sell offers an extensive range of items – from new children’s toys right through to used furniture. And with such a huge selection of secondhand items available, our online community not only saves money, but saves the environment too – simply by recycling.
