Vodafone, UBS, Telenor and Clifford Chance win TMT World Awards 2014 in London
London, UK (PRWEB UK) 24 November 2014 -- Vodafone, UBS, Telenor, Clifford Chance, Deutsche Bank and Millicom were among the big winners at TMT Finance’s TMT World Awards 2014 which were presented at the Hilton on Park Lane in London this week.
Vodafone claimed two prizes, TMT World Deal of the Year for the US$130bn exit from Verizon Wireless, and the Operator Award for their subsequent bold acquisition and growth strategy. Advisors UBS, Guggeinheim Partners, Morgan Stanley, Barclays, JP Morgan, Bank of America Merrill Lynch, Goldman Sachs also won awards for their roles on the Vodafone Verizon Deal of the Year. One judge commented on the deal: ‘A well-deserved winner, not just because of the massive size, but due to the complex structure of the deal in particular the mix of cash, loan and shares, which made it a standout and transformational landmark transaction’.
UBS won the TMT M&A Adviser of the Year; while Clifford Chance won the TMT Legal Advisor of the Year award and Deutsche Bank won TMT Financing Bank of the Year.
Jon Fredrik Baksaas, President & CEO, Telenor Group was crowned TMT CEO of the Year for his leadership of the group’s investment in genuine emerging market possibilities whilst also maintaining the organisation’s strong presence and growth in stable markets.
Millicom won the TMT Innovation Award: Services and Applications, for its Mobile Financial Service offerings in Africa and Latin America. SK Telecom of South Korea won the TMT Innovation: Infrastructure and Connectivity Award for their success in deploying LTE-Advanced architectures.
African mobile towers operator IHS Towers won the TMT Growth Story of the Year, for their emergence as the dominant force in Mobile Towers in Africa, and Alibaba won IPO of the Year for raising US$24.88bn on the NYSE;
