Wade Architectural Systems Wins Award for Work on Clarks Logistic Center
Houston, TX (PRWEB) July 11, 2014 -- A few years ago, Wade Architectural Systems began its work on Clarks Logistic Center, a distribution facility commissioned by shoe manufacturer, Clarks Companies North America. Wade Architectural System is pleased to announce that they have received an award for this project.
The architectural materials provider—which is based in Humble, Texas—won a CENTRIA Dealer Project Excellence Award in the Manufacturing Plants, Warehouses, and Labs division. Coincidentally, Wade Architectural Systems is a CENTRIA dealer, and the company had used CENTRIA's wall and roof panel system in the construction of the Clarks Logistic Center carried out by GNF Architects and engineers. Wade Architectural Systems bested Blackwood Associates Inc., which received a honorable mention for work on the Veterinary Medicine 3B Research Lab in Davis, California.
The building that earned Wade Architectural Systems top honors at this year's CENTRIA awards is 80 feet tall and covers a vast area of over 450,000 square feet. To minimize its visual and environmental impact, the architects that worked with Wade Architectural Systems fitted the building with an arched roof, an assorted combination of pale-colored panels on the front, and about 30,000 square feet of exterior glass.
According to Clarks Companies North America—which operates as the North American division of its parent company, UK-based C. & J. Clark International Ltd—its Supply Chain team oversees a distribution of 20 million pairs of its shoes. The logistic center, which became operational this year, is expected to boost that number to 50 million due to the latest in distribution technology.
Wade Architectural System's efforts helped Clarks get a LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Gold Certification. Applicants are awarded certifications based on how energy efficient and environmental friendly the building's design and construction is. The Gold certification is one of the four certification levels, and it is surpassed only by the Platinum level.
