Wake Tech Celebrates Completing Another Semester of Financial Literacy Promotion
Raleigh, NC (PRWEB) January 22, 2014 -- As 2013 draws to a close, the SunTrust Foundation’s Center for Financial Education at Wake Technical Community College is set to observe another successful semester of sponsoring its community and campus-wide financial literacy campaign.
More than 20 events and workshops marked the fall semester of financial education activities, including a scavenger hunt with a money management theme, GED classes, stock market simulations, and staff financial education events. Specific campus departments, including Cosmetology and various student organizations, also hosted special events.
The financial education initiative at Wake Tech is designed to serve a diverse student body. Employing multiple touchpoints, contests, campus promotions, and modern marketing techniques helps to maximize campaign benefits. At each phase, empirical data is collected to guide a best practices model that other universities, colleges, and organizations can easily replicate.
Kim Knox, certified instructor and member of the NFEC’s Personal Finance Speakers Association, was instrumental in rolling out the program and giving presentations. Kim was well-received by all audiences as she delivered the college-level financial literacy curriculum and implemented various program components.
Wake Tech is fully committed to designing a comprehensive financial education initiative for prospective students, current students, staff, and faculty. The planning, implementation and assessment of the financial literacy program is a collaborative effort between Wake Tech’s administration, Foundation Office, GED/ABE Programs, Student Activities Office, Financial Aid Office, Promotions & Marketing and Curriculum Education Services. The college is dedicated to providing this holistic financial education initiative in order to increase financial literacy and allow participants to achieve financial freedom and empowerment.
