Walker Sands Expands to Support New York Startups with Sponsorship of Inaugural Techweek NYC
CHICAGO, Ill. (PRWEB) October 29, 2013 -- Walker Sands, a midsized public relations and digital marketing agency specializing in B2B and technology companies, expanded its sponsorship of Techweek beyond Chicago to sponsor the first Techweek event in New York.
The weeklong event was held from Oct. 14-20, with primary events taking place at 82 Mercer in Lower Manhattan on Oct 17. Techweek NYC brought together over a thousand members of the East Coast tech community for a conference and business funding competition.
Modeled after the successful event held each year in Chicago, the New York event featured a fashion show and nearly fifty speakers. Leaders from Walker Sands were present to support the 30 LAUNCH competitors during their demonstrations and at a happy hour event hosted by Walker Sands.
“We love working with those starting their own venture because it gives us the chance to connect and exchange ideas with the entrepreneurs who will bring us the next big thing,” said Mike Santoro, president of Walker Sands and Techweek NYC attendee. “These are the types of companies we work with on a daily basis so it was fun to share notes with the group on successes and lessons learned.”
The LAUNCH event featured thirty competitors and five finalists, ranging from a health-focused social network to a real-time ad tracking and targeting tool. The winner, SeamlessDocs, won $100,000 in cash and prizes for its next-generation eSigning platform.
In addition to up-and-coming technology companies and entrepreneurs, the event drew speakers from Forbes, Fast Company and GE. Thought leaders addressed advancements in technology, media developments, advice for startups and technology’s role in fashion.
“The Walker Sands team enjoys participating in Techweek every year. We get a front-row seat to preview the latest technologies and more importantly, learn from directly from the people behind them,” said Santoro. “As we spoke with LAUNCH participants, we were constantly reminded of why we love working in this industry.”
In conjunction with the event, Walker Sands also released a whitepaper aimed at supporting startups with their PR campaigns. “5 Questions to Ask: Launching a PR Campaign for Startups” is available for download at http://www.walkersands.com/White-Paper-5-Questions-for-Startups.
Other sponsors of Techweek NYC included Uber, MakerBot, Dreamworks Animation and Motorola. In addition to Techweek New York, Techweek’s first Los Angeles event will be held during Nov. 22-23. Walker Sands will sponsor the fourth annual Techweek Chicago, to be held June 23-29, 2014 at the Merchandise Mart.
