Warm Hearts Make for Warm Nights in the Washington, DC Area Thanks to the Radisson Largo
LARGO, MD (PRWEB) February 18, 2015 -- As winter blankets the east coast, it’s easy to take a warm place to sleep for granted. Thanks to the contributions of the Radisson Largo, more families just outside the nation’s capital will have that luxury as the temperatures begin to drop.
The Radisson Largo has partnered with Community Crisis Services, Inc., a nonprofit agency that runs the Prince George’s County Hypothermia Shelter known locally as “Warm Nights.” The shelter is open from November through April and works with local churches to house families in need and protect them from the cold. The hotel will be donating over 100 amenity bags for families staying in the shelter. Each bag contains sundry items usually found in hotel guest rooms, such as: soaps, deodorant, combs, shampoo, razors and shaving cream and other necessities.
“Since we are in the business of serving others and providing a warm place for our guests to stay, this local charity really speaks to our mission,” said Joseph Galvan, General Manger of the Radisson Largo, one of over 100 hotels managed by Crescent Hotels and Resorts, including 16 hotels in the Washington DC area.
During the winter season “Warm Nights” will provide approximately 3,780 bed nights. “Warm Nights” is the only hypothermia shelter in the Greater Washington DC Area dedicated to helping families. “We feel it’s crucial to be a good neighbor and give back to the community,” added Galvan. “This is the first year we have given to this worthy charity and we plan to make it an annual tradition.”
The hotel has a history of working with local charities. Last December the hotel teamed up with its sister hotels in the area to collect over 1,000 Toys for Tots. “We have the most generous guests [and team members] in the industry,” said Denice Coke, Director of Sales for the hotel. “The toys just kept rolling in.” The hotel also gives discounts when non-profits need a place to hold their fundraisers as well offering donations to events.
