Warriors Publishing Group Author, Hollywood Actor, and Afghan Interpreter, Fahim Fazli, to speak at Arizona State University
Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) February 08, 2015 -- “‘Afghanistan is a complicated place,’ says Fahim Fazli, and he knows. Born in that enigmatic nation when it was at peace, coming of age as it became a land of terror, and even helping Hollywood recreate the years of war against the USSR, he has a story told in the languages of his origin yet understood by the ears of the Western World. As both history and memoir, when Fahim Fazli speaks we are fascinated.”
—Tom Hanks, Actor, Writer, Director
Fahim Fazli, award-winning author of "Fahim Speaks: A Warrior-Actor’s Odyssey from Afghanistan to Hollywood and Back" (Warriors Publishing Group) will be the featured guest at a reading and book signing event on Tuesday, February 10. The event is open to the public and will take place from 11 am until 1 pm at Arizona State University’s Memorial Union, 2nd floor, Yuma room on the Tempe Campus.
Fazli, highly respected Afghan-American military interpreter and actor—most recently seen in “American Sniper”—will read from his memoir, which chronicles his inspirational life journey: escaping Afghanistan in 1983 and his years as a refugee, arriving in America, becoming an actor, and returning to Afghanistan as an interpreter with the Marines.
Dedicated to Fahim’s mother and the women of the world, "Fahim Speaks", co-written with Michael Moffett, won the Gold Medal for Top Biography from the Military Writers Association of America and was also nominated for “Book-of-the-Year” with the Oral History Association of America. The book is currently being adapted for film.
