WCPE FM Partners with Concerts for A Cause
Wake Forest, NC (PRWEB) April 28, 2014 -- WCPE Community and Arts Liaison Tara Lynn announces a partnership with local musicians through the Concerts for a Cause series at the Kirk of Kildaire. Proceeds from the concert, to be held on May 4th, 2014 at 4:00 p.m., will benefit WCPE FM and its educational mission within the community. The concert will take place at the Kirk of Kildaire, 200 High Meadow Drive, Cary, NC, located at the corner of Kildaire Farm Road and High Meadow Drive. Performers include the Triangle Area Community Orchestra (TACO), members of the Cary Town Band and the Chancel Choir from the Kirk of Kildaire.

"We are extremely grateful to the musicians of TACO and Cary Town Band, as well as Kirk of Kildaire for assisting WCPE with its mission to create and fund meaningful educational experiences in classical music.”
"The Triangle Area Community Orchestra (TACO) selected WCPE as our target public service organization because it is the only station in our area which plays exclusively classical music," Marta Partridge, founder of TACO, says. "I was personally involved in a wonderful project last year which WCPE sponsored through its Education Fund. Several local composers were commissioned to write original compositions for our area youth orchestras. I doubt those young people will ever forget that experience."
The May 4th concert program begins with George Frederic Handel's "Second Organ Concerto" in Bb major with Dr. Larry Abernathy, organist and chamber orchestra conducted by Marta Partridge. The Cary Town Band will join TACO in a performance of 'Russian Sailors' Dance'. The concert will close with three patriotic songs combining the efforts of TACO, Cary Town Band and the Chancel Choir from the Kirk of Kildaire.
Larry Abernathy, Director of Music and Arts at Kirk of Kildaire Presbyterian, adds, “The mission of the Concerts for a Cause at the Kirk of Kildaire is to provide the Cary community a diverse concert series highlighting local and regional talent and also raise money for local organizations. The concerts are free with donations accepted at the door following the concert.”
