We Fix Now Welcomes New Safety Scheme
(PRWEB UK) 3 July 2013 -- Capita has announced the launch of a new scheme, Blue Watch, that aims to increase fire and home safety, reports HVP on June 25 in the article Blue Watch is the New Name in Fire and Home Safety. The scheme, which is supported by fire and rescue services in the UK, intends to minimise the cost and damage caused by fires and carbon monoxide poisoning in homes, whilst helping landlords and homeowners to provide safer homes.
Landlords can register their property with Blue Watch and inform them of the safety measures they already have in place, as well as getting advice on ways they can further improve the safety of the property. This includes measures such as installing carbon monoxide alarms, smoke alarms and fire doors. After registration, the property’s safety measures can be validated by the local fire service and the Blue Watch symbol will then signify a safer property.
The customer services director at Blue Watch, Del Bowes, told HVP that:
“Around 15,000 people in the UK are affected by fires and carbon monoxide poisoning every year, which could be prevented by taking a few simple steps. As well as helping homeowners and landlords to fit Blue Watch-approved safety products correctly in their homes, we will work closely with Chief Fire Officers Association and the UK’s Fire and Rescue Service to raise awareness of the dangers and risks of fire and carbon monoxide poisoning.”
We Fix Now, who provide qualified electricians and plumbers in East Ham, throughout London and the surrounding areas, follow news in the industry with a keen interest. A representative from the company offered their thoughts on this news and the importance of gas safety in homes:
“Any scheme which raises awareness of gas safety in the UK’s homes is a welcome one. Greater awareness of the possible causes and symptoms of carbon monoxide poisoning will significantly reduce the risk of carbon monoxide poisoning. Homeowners and landlords should install carbon monoxide alarms and ensure that all gas appliances are serviced regularly by a Gas Safe registered engineer, such as the ones provided by We Fix Now.”
