Weaving an Intricate Web of Jewish Threads

(PRWEB) February 03, 2016 -- In “Dina’s Lost Tribe,” former college history teacher Brigitte Goldstein channels her extensive knowledge of European and Jewish history into an historical fiction novel that intertwines the lives and worlds of two Jewish women living 700 years apart.
The story follows American historian Nina Aschauer, who is irresistibly driven to France in search for her birthplace in the Pyrenees Mountains at the time of her parents’ flight from Nazi persecution during World War II. What Nina finds is love, a medieval outpost arrested in time and a written codex that thrusts her into the world of Dina Miryam, a 14th Century Jewish woman who was left behind when her family fled France in the wake of the expulsion of the Jews in 1306.
The dramatic unfolding of the two women’s stories reveals many parallels, personal and historical, that connect their lives along the unbroken thread of Jewish history.
“Anti-Semitism and violence against Jews has persisted through the centuries in many countries around the world,” Goldstein said. “Unfortunately, these sentiments still widely exist today.”
Through her novel, Goldstein hopes to highlight the triumph of the human spirit embattled in adversity, injustice, cruelty and violence.
“Religion can be a powerful motivator in the way it can preserve an individual’s identity,” Goldstein said. “Dina’s Jewish faith gives her strength and preserves her identity and individuality through all the adversity she experiences.”

About the author
Brigitte Goldstein is a writer and novelist. She has a doctorate degree in European history from New York University. Before turning to writing full-time, Goldstein taught college history, Western civilization and women’s history courses, as well as worked in publishing. She is also the translator of several published German literary works. Three of her four historical novels have earned literary awards.
