Website Security Innovator 6Scan LTD Announces Funding
San Francisco, CA, February 18, 2014 (PRWEB) February 19, 2014 -- 6Scan LTD (http://www.6Scan.com), a leader in website security solutions for small businesses, today announced the company has closed a round of financing.
Following the increasing trend of the “consumerization of IT,” 6Scan has made the complex task of ensuring website operational continuity an easy, simple and automated effort for both small businesses and the service providers that host their sites. The new round of funding will accelerate growth for 6Scan by expanding operations and empowering the company to introduce new features that satisfy customer demand.
"This year we have enjoyed exponential growth while expanding the breadth of features and threat coverage,” said 6Scan CEO Chris Weltzien. “Small businesses realize the security and savings of affordable and set-and-forget protection, and that market validation is fueling our initial success. With this financing, we’ll be able to accelerate our growth plans and make it even easier for our customers to ensure business continuity.”
This investment includes an impressive group of security experts and entrepreneurs including Gregor Freund, founder of Zone Labs (acquired by Check Point Software in 2004). Freund, a security pioneer, led the investment round and he will also join the 6Scan board as an advisor. The amount of investment was not disclosed.
Freund sees an opportunity for 6Scan as the company shifts to cloud-based services. “The small business security market is enormous, because the technical and operational risks faced by small businesses threaten business continuity far more than for large corporations. They simply don’t have the resources or expertise to architect comprehensive security plans in-house,” Freund explained. “6Scan’s team and technology protect revenue and keep small businesses running by delivering a critical layer of protection without the need for security expertise.”
A recent National Small Business Administration Technology Report reinforced the need for “set-and-forget” solutions. According to the report, 64% of small business owners indicated that updating their company’s website was a major challenge. “Small business doesn't have the time or expertise to stay on top of the latest software updates or defend against emerging threats,” according to Weltzien. “Of the sites we’ve scanned, 87% are running outdated software and over 25% of the sites have not updated their content management system in over a year. It is essential to make website security easy for these businesses.”
