Weight Loss Surgery Foundation of America Announces Lisa Lampanelli As National Ambassador of Hope
Davis, CA (PRWEB) October 31, 2013 -- After undergoing gastric sleeve surgery in April 2012, Lisa has lost over one hundred pounds. She has publicly spoken out in support of using weight loss surgery as a tool to get healthy after her unsuccessful weight loss efforts through the years.
The WLSFA created a grant referral program to fund weight loss surgeries in response to insurance policies exempting medical treatments for morbid obesity. The program allows qualified surgeons to refer patients in need. Referred patients are then invited to apply for a grant that covers all expenses related to the surgery.
“After many years of struggling with my weight, I underwent gastric sleeve surgery to reclaim my health and it was the best thing I could have ever done for myself,” said Lisa Lampanelli. “I am thrilled to be WLSFA’s National Ambassador of Hope and I hope to bring awareness to an amazing organization that saves lives by providing grants to people who cannot afford this powerful leverage against morbid obesity. I strongly feel that you are not cheating by choosing to undergo weight loss surgery. You are only cheating death.”
"We feel very fortunate to have Lisa join us at our annual event. Lisa will shine a very bright light on our cause and help us raise awareness. Morbid obesity kills hundreds of thousands of people each year. Far too many people have insurance policies that exempt the medical treatments for obesity. Lisa is known as the "Queen of Mean" but to us she is the Queen of Hearts because she has a huge heart and her work with us will save lives,” said Laura Van Tuyl, WLSFA Board member and event director for the WLSFA Annual National Fundraiser.
Lisa Lampanelli will join fellow WLSFA National Ambassador of Hope Carnie Wilson at the annual WLSFA fundraising event, Sand and Sea Adventure, held on April 4-6, 2014 at the Tampa Marriott Westshore in Tampa Florida. Lisa will perform a portion of her new developmental one-woman show Skinny B*tch: NOT A Stand-Up Comedy Show and will reveal the woman behind the comic and her struggle with food, men and body image in an intimate, honest, and relatable way. Lisa will also host a fundraiser with a small, private meet and greet during the conference. After the three day conference, the WLSFA event continues with a five day cruise aboard Royal Caribbean's Brilliance of the Seas where Lisa will join hundreds of other weight loss surgery patients and WLSFA supporters. While on board, Lisa will help raise more funds by performing her comedy act for an intimate group of fortunate WLSFA cruisers who purchase special tickets.
