Welch Group’s Quincy, MA Assisted Living Community Embraces American Heart Month
Quincy MA (PRWEB) January 29, 2016 -- In celebration of American Heart Month in February, Allerton House Assisted Living at Hancock Park in Quincy, MA will hold a special Heart Healthy Day at the assisted living community. The celebration is scheduled for Wednesday, February 10, 2016.
Heart disease is the leading cause of death among women in the United States. Additionally, new research suggests that although great strides have been made in the prevention and treatment of heart disease, it is still “under-diagnosed and under-treated,” in women, according to the American Heart Association. It is estimated that more than 53,000 American women die each year from heart attack.
To encourage women and men to embrace a heart-healthy lifestyle, the 42-unit rental assisted living residence has scheduled several events. Wayne Cushing, personal trainer, will hold a Tai chi class at the community. Tai chi is recognized as an ancient Chinese form of self-discipline and exercise that many people today see as a graceful form of expression with stress-reducing benefits. The community is also holding a juicing demonstration and discussion on the benefits of juicing. And on the same day, the assisted living residence will present a “Cooking with Heart,” program, featuring a grilled chicken salad, minestrone soup and strawberry mousse for desert. "We are pleased to provide this heart-healthy series of activities designed to showcase the attention to a healthy lifestyle we promote at Allerton House at Hancock Park in Quincy,” says Kelly Richards, marketing director.
These programs are reserved for current residents and their families, and adult children and seniors who are in the process of gathering information to help their loved ones determine when it’s time to move into assisted living. Call 617-471-2600 for details.
