Welch Healthcare and Retirement Group’s Nursing Centers Introduces State-of-the-Art Therapeutic Programs
Braintree, MA (PRWEB) July 30, 2013 -- Innovative therapeutic programs are being introduced at several Welch Healthcare and Retirement Group rehabilitation and skilled nursing centers along the Massachusetts South Shore. Bay Path Rehabilitation & Nursing Center in Duxbury; Colonial Rehabilitation & Nursing Center in Weymouth; John Scott House Rehabilitation & Nursing Center in Braintree have formed a clinical collaboration with Accelerated Care Plus (ACP), a national provider of integrated clinical programs for chronic and post-acute rehabilitation.
The ACP specialized treatment programs provide non-surgical, medication-free treatment options for a wide range of conditions. The therapeutic programs rely on clinically proven modalities, such as ultrasound, shortwave diathermy, gently electrical stimulation or infrared light. This therapeutic approach has been successfully adopted by clinics providing orthopedic and physical rehabilitation where ACP is the preferred equipment for over 100 professional and collegiate sports teams.
“Choosing the right rehabilitation program and therapy team can play an important role in recovery,” says Richard M. Welch, president of Welch Healthcare & Retirement Group. “With the addition of ACP, we aim to provide an older population therapies used to successfully treat major athletes,” adds Welch. The clinically proven ACP Therapeutic Modalities use state-of-the-art medical technology for people of all ages, to manage pain, re-educate muscles and increase circulation for improved healing after an injury.
The specialized programs; Pulsed Shortwave Diathermy Program, Electrotherapy Program, and Omnicycle Strength & Endurance Program, are each designed to be helpful in the treatment of many common conditions and related symptoms experienced by aging adults and others, such as:
• Pain
• Swelling
• Arthritis
• Muscle weakness
• Coordination or balance problems
• A recent fall or fear of falling
• Recovery from a joint replacement
• Complications from a stroke
• Loss of movement
• Bladder problems
• Slow healing wounds
• Carpal tunnel syndrome
• Muscle weakness related to COPD
• Post-surgical recovery
Pulsed Shortwave Diathermy Program provides state-of-the-art thermal and sub-thermal treatment for edema, pain, inflammation, joint stiffness, relieve muscle spasms and increase local blood flow.
Electrotherapy Program replicates normal neuromuscular movement patterns for motor re-learning to address stroke recovery, joint replacement, and other neurological and orthopedic conditions.
Omnicycle Strength & Endurance Program employs biofeedback and power-assisted technology to jump-start the exercise process for individuals affected by stroke, neuromuscular conditions, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and joint replacement. The unique system helps individuals exercise their upper and lower body even when they might not have full control over one of their limbs or are suffering from other physical limitations. The program goal is to return individuals to normal activities more quickly by building strength and endurance earlier in the recovery process.
