WellCare and Employees Donate More Than $120,000 To The American Diabetes Association
Tampa, Fla. (PRWEB) November 26, 2014 -- WellCare Health Plans, Inc. (NYSE: WCG) today announced that the company’s employees and the WellCare Community Foundation together donated more than $120,000 to support the 2014 American Diabetes Association’s Step Out: Walk to Stop Diabetes effort.
The WellCare Community Foundation donated $35,000 as the presenting sponsor of the 2014 Step Out walk in Tampa, Fla. WellCare employees raised more than $85,000 and had more than 500 registered walkers participating on company teams that walked in 15 Step Out events across the country.
“For six years, WellCare has committed funds and volunteer hours to support the American Diabetes Association’s mission to stop diabetes. This disease affects many of our members, families and friends, and we will continue to do our part to prevent, cure and manage it,” said Dr. Steve Goldberg, WellCare’s senior vice president and chief medical officer.
