WellCare Opens New Welcome Room in Memphis, Tennessee
TAMPA, Fla. and MEMPHIS, Tenn. (PRWEB) July 01, 2015 -- WellCare Health Plans, Inc. (NYSE: WCG), recently opened its Memphis Welcome Room, a neighborhood health care information, education and enrollment center that is open to the public and staffed by WellCare associates who can answer questions about Medicare in a comfortable, face-to-face environment.
“This new Welcome Room is a valuable resource for the approximately 187,000 Medicare-eligible residents in Memphis and its surrounding communities,” said Tim Mullen, COO of WellCare Health Plans for Tennessee, Arkansas and Mississippi. “This facility extends our community presence and makes it easier for area seniors, and those who assist them, to access the tools and information they need to make the best health care decisions for themselves and their loved ones.”
To celebrate the opening of the new facility, WellCare held an open house and ribbon cutting ceremony where it presented $3,000 to the Mid-South Food Bank. WellCare’s contribution will go to support Mid-South’s Feeding Seniors Initiative, which is focused on providing well-balanced nutrition at no cost to area seniors in need.
“Of the 418,740 people in the mid-south who are facing food insecurity, 29 percent are seniors,” said Estella Mayhue-Greer, president and CEO of the Mid-South Food Bank. “We are grateful to WellCare for their donation and efforts to make a difference in the health and well-being of seniors in our community.”
“WellCare Health Plan is focused on assisting our members and those who live in the communities we serve to address the barriers to good health, including access to proper nutrition, safe housing and education,” said Mullen. “Seniors are the fastest growing group of food insecure individuals and we are committed to doing our part to support organizations like Mid-South Food Bank in their efforts to eradicate this serious problem.”
Mid-South Food Bank is a member of Feeding America and supplies food, and other grocery items to charitable feeding programs in west Tennessee, north Mississippi and east Arkansas.
