Wellness Education Cannabis Advocates of Nevada Achieves 501 (c) 3 Non-Profit Status
Las Vegas NV (PRWEB) December 17, 2013 -- WeCan (Wellness Education Cannabis Advocates of Nevada), a social group for medical marijuana advocates, has recently achieved 501 (c) 3 non-profit status and will continue to serve the Las Vegas community as a patient support group, friend connection and a public education outlet. It soon plans to establish a library, reading room and provide patient outreach.
Organized to help patients, who under the established laws had no safe access to their legal medication, WeCan approached the Nevada State Legislature and pushed for safe access. WeCan spreads awareness via community involvement with events such as Patients 1st, a medical cannabis support group; The Downtown Halloween Parade; First Fridays Art Walk; and quarterly parties. Membership is free at: http://www.Meetup.com/WeCan702/. An annual voting membership is $35.00 and the fee for voting and complimentary admission to quarterly parties is $100.00.
Monies raised by WeCan is put towards underwriting program costs for low or fixed income patients residing in Nevada who wish to receive their medical marijuana card. Interested adults may sign up at Meetup.com/WeCan702 or email LeeK(at)WeCan702(dot)org or Kurt(at)wecan702(dot)org with an email, name, address, and phone number. Eligibility of applicants are screened for approval and limited due to fund availability.
WeCan produces regularly scheduled symposiums regarding the emerging Nevada dispensary law. WeCan saw an immediate need for education when California residents in Las Vegas were providing false information irrelevant to Nevada law. Its first symposium was held in August; a second followed in October after draft regulations were released. Now, with this budding billion dollar industry, and the demand for interested parties to open cannabis dispensaries in Nevada, WeCan will produce its next Las Vegas symposium on Friday, January 17th at Main Street Station. This third in the series follows the anticipated final draft of regulations in late December.
This January, attendees will hear interpretations of the law from lawmakers including Senator Tick Segerblom, and Mark Hutchison. These elected officials were responsible for the passage of SB374, and will help guide this industry further. Also, returning is the dynamic head of the Clark County Director of Business Licensing, Jacqueline Holloway. Industry experts Von Dank will return for all your turnkey solutions.
