According to CBS12 News (7.17.13), the incident started when Victor Martinez allegedly “inappropriately touched” Sandoval while they were inside the bar. She then allegedly threw a beer bottle at him. Following this, Martinez went outside, took a loaded shotgun out of his car and shot Sandoval while she was inside, standing near the establishment’s door.
In South Florida, if patrons are not safeguarded from harm, the property owners may be liable.
“If hired security guards were managing the security at this public property, the contractors, in addition to the property owners, might be held accountable for damage due to security negligence,” said Steinger.
Martinez was arrested and charged with attempted first-degree murder, said CBS12 News.
