St. Patrick’s Day is Almost Here
• The Annual Yonkers St. Patrick’s Day Parade will kick off on Saturday, March 19, at 1:00 p.m. This year’s Grand Marshall is Patrick Quinn, an advocate for Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) and the Ice Bucket Challenge. The parade starts at McLean Avenue near Bronx River Road and free parking is offered at Empire City Casino. Drivers must use the Yonkers Avenue entrance for free shuttles to the parade route. Enjoy Restaurant Week
• Hudson Valley Restaurant Week is back. The renowned foodie event will take place Monday, March 7 through Sunday, March 20. For two weeks, diners will enjoy delicious meals and affordable deals at more than 180 restaurants throughout the Hudson Valley, including more than 100 in Westchester County. Organized by The Valley Table Magazine, Hudson Valley Restaurant Week features prix-fixe, three-course dinners ($29.95) and lunches ($20.95). Experience Arts & Culture
• In celebration of Women’s History Month, ArtsWestchester will debut its spring exhibition, SHE: Deconstructing Female Identity, with an opening reception on Sunday, March 13. Running until June 25, the contemporary art exhibition will provide an artistic exploration of issues related to gender and female identity. • It’s the peak of maple sugaring season. Gather at Greenburgh Nature Center for a Maple Sugaring Party on Sunday, March 6 from 11:00 a.m. through 3:00 p.m. Enjoy sap collection demonstrations, candy and porridge making, depictions of Native American and Colonial-style sugaring sites and other crafts. • On Saturday, March 12 families with children who are in Pre-K or Kindergarten are invited to Jacob Burns Film Center (JBFC) to listen to stories from around the world and use their imaginations to create, tell and then act out their tales. Short animated movies and activities will take place in front of and behind camera. Author Bill Gordh worked with JBFC to create this exciting and interactive class.
