Western Design Conference in Jackson Hole Sets Attendance Record for Functional Art Opening Preview Party and Fashion Show
Jackson Hole, Wyo., (PRWEB) September 23, 2015 -- The 2015 Western Design Conference (WDC Exhibit + Sale) held September 10-13 in Jackson Hole, Wyo., at the Snow King Center was a resounding success. At the much-anticipated Thursday evening Opening Preview Party and Fashion Show, more than1,500 guests – including Jackson locals and visitors from around the world – celebrated award-winning design in fashion, furniture and decorative arts with a festive night of shopping, signature cocktails and culinary creations by Café Genevieve. Aspen, Colo., designer Anna Trzebinski received this year’s Fashion Show award for Best Collection for her fringed leather creations, voted on by attendees of the event.
This year 130 exhibitors showcased their one-of-a-kind functional art creations, from wearable fashion and jewelry to furnishings and decor accessories for the home. A total of more than 3,100 attendees visited the Snow King exhibit venue, meeting artists and designers over the course of the four-day show. The Western Design Conference Exhibit + Sale is a unique event where 100 percent of sales go directly to the participating artists, with many artists reporting banner sales for the 2015 show.
“Without question the WDC was the best thing I have ever done for my business,” says furniture maker Robert Seliger of Seliger Furniture, who works from his ranch near Bend, Ore. Seliger won the award for Best Artist in the Woodworking category, sponsored by Jackson Hole architecture firm Ward + Blake Architects. Like many other WDC artisans, Seliger reported enjoying record sales and multiple commissions from his participation. The Western Design Conference Exhibit + Sale includes a six-room Designer Show House, Retail Row shopping, a live auction, and runway Fashion Show. This multimillion-dollar event brings together craftspeople, scholars, collectors, interior designers, architects and fashion designers with an interest in the West. The Western Design Conference was founded 23 years ago in Cody, Wyo., as a way to promote Western-inspired contemporary artists. The show moved to Jackson in 2007 when it was purchased by Powder Mountain Press, LLC and the Jackson Hole News & Guide. Allison Merritt, who purchased the Western Design Conference in 2014 after seven years acting as WDC Event Manager, continues the strong commitment to Western arts while expanding the reach of the show.
