Western Music Association’s Top Artists Come Together for One Night in January in Tooele, Utah
Salt Lake City, Utah (PRWEB) January 22, 2016 -- The Western Music and Songwriters Series is bringing together for the third time, three of the Western Music Association’s top performing singers and songwriters on January 23, 2016 from 6 to 9 p.m., to perform at the Deseret Peak Complex Convention Center in Tooele, Utah. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Tooele Bit & Spur Jr Riding Club, a non-profit dedicated to sharing the love of horses, riding and sportsmanship, with local youth. Over the last two years, the Western Music and Songwriters Series has donated more than $3,000 to miscellaneous non-profit organizations benefiting youth programs in Tooele County.
The evening’s line up will include WMA’s Album of the Year and Female Vocalist Nominee, Trinity Seeley, of Ashby Nebraska; Academy of Western Artist’s winner of the Will Rogers Award, Kevin Davis of Walters Oklahoma; twelve-year-old cowboy poet, Thatch Elmer, son of cowboy poet, Brad Elmer, and his wife, Kim. Thatch started out reciting his dad’s poems and now writes and recites his own.
“It’s gratifying for me that people from different parts of the country still have a strong love and connection with Western Music,” stated Kevin Davis. “It goes to prove that even though our gear is a little different, somehow through Western Music we all connect.”
Trinity Seeley added, “The Western Music and Song Writer Series is a wonderful event that will give the audience a chance to take a closer look at the performers and an inside look into their music and poetry. It’s all about sharing a piece of the soul and sharing a little bit of the lifestyle that my family and I live and love.”
The event was inspired by a cowboy poet, Tyler Guy, who helps run a family ranch in Grantsville, Utah. He felt there was a need and an audience for a show that brought Western Music and poetry together in an intimate setting. Guy, who lives with his wife Sylvia in Tooele, will emcee the event and share some of his poetry.
“Over the years of being involved in many cowboy gatherings across the Mid-West as a cowboy poet, it seems the pure forms of talent really draw people in. Whether it be poetry or just an acoustic setting of music, they just really hit home with a lot of folks,” said Guy. “The Western Music and Songwriters Series was designed to capture and preserve the heritage in that close setting.”

Proceeds from the event will benefit the Tooele Bit & Spur Junior Riding Club, which teaches young kids correct and safe horsemanship, while giving them a fun and safe environment in which to learn and practice their skills.
