Whalebone Vineyard Recognized For Producing Some Of The Best Paso Robles Wines
Paso Robles, CA (PRWEB) May 31, 2014 -- Whalebone Vineyard received recognition as a producer of some of the best Paso Robles wines with two Double Golds at the recent 2014 San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition, the largest competition of American wines in the world.
The winery's 2010 BOBWINE received Double Gold in the Bordeaux Blend category, while their 2011 Boneyard received Double Gold in Red Blends category.
Owners Dr. Bob and Janalyn Simpson have ample reason to call their products "the best wines in Paso Robes." That sentiment has long been acknowledged by their devoted Wine Club Members and tasting room guests. Now, with more than a dozen additional accolades in major competitions in the first few months of 2014, once again the Simpson Family has reason so celebrate.
"We don't just medal, we garner Double Golds and Best of Class," says Bob Simpson. "While our wines are no secret to our burgeoning wine clubs, it is quite rewarding to be held in such high estimation by wine critics."
Whalebone Vineyard, located in the Adelaida area west of Paso Robles, was planted with Cabernet Sauvignon in 1989 and boasts ideal growing conditions, marked by limestone soils with warm days and cool nights. Whalebones were unearthed during planting, thus the name. The Simpson's also run an Angus cow/calf operation on their 128 acre ranch.
In the Whalebone Winery Tasting Barn guests visit with multiple members of the Simpson Family. "Down home hospitality is a hallmark of our business. In many ways our passionate Club Members and tasters feel like they are in the kitchen, bar or living room of a friend."
Whalebone produces a Cabernet Sauvignon, a Bordeaux blend (BOBWINE), red and white Rhone blends (Boneyard and Ballena Blanca), as well as a Zinfindel. "Frequently we hear tasters exclaim how they love all of our wines. In fact, the club shipments consistently contain all Gold or better wines."
