What are the best ways educators can incorporate technology into the classroom to improve student achievement?
New York, NY (PRWEB) September 13, 2015 -- The Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) and the Program for International Student Assessment (PISA) today published its new report “Students, Computers, and Learning: Making the Connection,” the first of its kind, which investigates the statistics on crucial contemporary issues of technology and education. The report is based on new analysis and data from the PISA 2012 assessment. It discusses differences in access to and use of ICT in relation to students’ socio-economic status, gender, geographic location, and the school a child attends. Surprising findings in “Students, Computers, and Learning: Making the Connection” include the fact that the development of ICT (information communication technology) in school systems has not necessarily improved student achievement in reading, math, and science; and has not demonstrably closed gaps between disadvantaged and privileged students. The new report clearly highlights the need for “intensive teacher-student interactions,” as well as education that can capably and intelligently adapt technology to the classroom. The Global Search for Education series’ author C. M. Rubin interviewed the study’s author Francesco Avvisati about the issues. In the interview, Avvisati shares his tips for teachers and parents concerned about the future of technology in education, and clarifies what tactics have worked in classrooms and homes so far.
