Which Tech Company Leads Massachusetts in Customer Satisfaction?
CHICAGO – June 24, 2015 – (PRWEB) June 24, 2015 -- G2 Crowd has published its first Massachusetts Gridscape℠, a visualization of 35 business software products, according to user satisfaction and market presence.
Using its Grid℠ methodology, G2 Crowd compiled a list of the top-rated business software products from technology companies headquartered in Massachusetts, according to data from more than 1,700 reviews written by business professionals. Of the nearly 200 products listed on G2 Crowd from Mass.-based companies, the 35 products included had enough review data to make it onto the Massachusetts Gridscape.
Satisfaction rankings are generated from user review data, and market presence is calculated from vendor size, market share and social impact. While most of the products included feature prominently in their respective G2 Crowd categories, the Massachusetts Gridscape featured several unofficial Leaders and High Performers.
Leaders receive high customer satisfaction scores and have substantial market presence; High Performers have high customer satisfaction scores with a smaller market presence than Leaders. HubSpot, SOLIDWORKS, Constant Contact, join.me and HubSpot CRM were Leaders, while Acquia, WordStream, InsightSquared, Crimson Hexagon, Demandware, Brainshark, Avention, Yesware, SiteSpect, Qvidian, LiveChat, Help Scout, HP Vertica, Repsly, MerlinOne, GrabCAD Workbench and Codeship were High Performers.
Here are the 10 Massachusetts-based software/SaaS products with the highest customer satisfaction ratings, as of June 1, 2015:
1. HubSpot
2. InsightSquared
3. join.me
4. Help Scout
5. MerlinOne
6. HubSpot CRM
7. (tied) SOLIDWORKS
7. (tied) Crimson Hexagon
8. LiveChat
9. WordStream
10. Brainshark
“Massachusetts-based software companies are delivering solutions that are transforming how business is done around the world; we're proud to be among those forward-thinking companies and to call the Bay State home,” said Mike Volpe, Chief Marketing Officer at HubSpot. “We see our top position on G2 Crowd's Massachusetts Gridscape as affirmation of our commitment to solving for our customers’ unique business needs.”
While HubSpot led the way in satisfaction, several companies from different verticals were rated highly, including InsightSquared (Business Intelligence), join.me (Web Conferencing) and others. In addition, the companies rated highly had a wide range of Market Presence scores, in part due to the company sizes. According to LinkedIn, HubSpot has more than 1,000 employees, while Help Scout, a smaller company in the help desk software space, has only 16.
The Boston area in particular seems to receive a good amount of support from venture capitalists. According to CB Insights, VCs invested $1.37 billion in Boston-area companies in Q1 2015, up 45 percent from a year earlier. In Q4 2014, Boston overtook New York City to rank second only to Silicon Valley in venture funding.
One major contributing factor is the area’s roots in enterprise business, says David Beisel, co-founder and partner at NextView Ventures. “Boston has a rich heritage in startup tech, from its roots in enterprise software to the endless river of talent coming out of its city's premier universities,” he said. “The consumerization of IT over the past decade has leveraged this foundation and coupled it with marketing expertise to produce many of the recent success stories.”
While many of the companies represented on the Gridscape are well established, several of the top performers were founded since 2010, including InsightSquared, Repsly, Codeship and Yesware.
“The G2 Crowd Massachusetts Gridscape showcases a wide variety of products in different categories, from small to large companies both established and up and coming,” said Tim Handorf, president of G2 Crowd. “This reflects a very healthy business technology ecosystem.”
Semyon Dukach, managing director of Techstars in Boston, believes there are a number of reasons for Massachusetts’ strong presence on the tech stage, including the fact it’s closer to Europe than Silicon Valley.
“I'm not surprised to see a number of early stage companies on this list,” he said. “The combination of schools, investors and the local community – along with the influx of highly educated and entrepreneurial immigrants from Europe – makes Massachusetts one of the best places in the world to grow a tech startup.”
