White Chosen as South Carolina Builder of the Year
Berkley White, CMB, Vice President of Classic Commercial, Inc. has been named South Carolina’s Builder member of the Year. White will receive the prestigious Thomas N. Bagnal Award during the South Carolina Home Builders Association’s Celebration of Excellence in November.
According to Rose Anne O’Reilly, Executive Director of the Horry-Georgetown Home Builders Association, the honor is well deserved. “Berkley is an asset to the entire industry and to his community,” she said. “He demonstrates the same qualities as the award’s namesake, Thomas N. Bagnal. He is a highly skilled builder, an esteemed member of our association, and a pillar in our community.”
White, who has served two terms as President of the Horry-Georgetown Home Builders Association, and has been a member since 1997, is one of six certified master builders within Horry and Georgetown Counties, and one of only 55 certified master builders in the entire state of South Carolina.
For over six years, White has been a member of the Southern Living Custom Builder Program and was among 100 builders chosen for the 19th annual builder program, a distinguished network of custom homebuilders throughout the South. In 2012, he earned the distinction of being named the builder of the Grand Strand’s first Southern Living Showcase Home. During that same year, White was the recipient of the First Annual Professional Remodelers’ Council Award, an honor bestowed by the Horry-Georgetown Home Builders Association.
In addition to his involvement with the local home builders organization, he has served on the Board of Directors for the South Carolina Home Builders Association. “Berkley’s participation at the state level has created a better understanding of the challenges our builders here in the coastal and low-country regions face,” O’Reilly said.
“I am moved,” said White. “There are many exceptional builders,” he continued. “To be recognized as the member Builder of the Year is an honor that I will never forget. While I am the one who is receiving the honor, it is the entire Classic team that I must thank for their support and their commitment to excellence. I also want to thank Rose Anne O’Reilly for her nomination and the behind-the-scenes work that she does to advance the home building industry within Horry and Georgetown counties.”
The Thomas N. Bagnal Builder member of the Year Award will be presented at the Celebration of Excellence on Saturday, November 9 at the Westin Hilton Head Island Resort and Spa in Hilton Head, SC. Along with White, Jon Statom of Palmetto Exterminators, Inc. of Greenville will be recognized as the HBASC Associate of the Year.
